今年9月正式入選NBA籃球名人堂的姚明，被問到NBA中誰是喬登退休後最偉大的球員？姚明先是幽默回答「問法應該是喬登退休後，除我以外，誰是最偉大的籃球員？」引發全場笑聲。他隨後表態是柯比（Kobe Bryant），在這麼多年的球場上，對他的表現感受刻骨銘心、記憶深刻。
針對同樣在今年宣布高掛球衣的馬刺一哥鄧肯（Tim Duncan），姚明則說，由於地理位置，每年要和馬刺隊交手很多次，他形容馬刺整支球隊非常堅毅，「像石頭一樣搬也搬不走、踢也踢不開」，非常有幸可以和這麼多偉大的運動員同場競技。
另被問到林書豪，新球季再度回鍋紐約加入籃網隊，如何看待他的表現？姚明指出，對林書豪來說紐約是一個福地，這次又是一個新的挑戰，但看好他現在的成熟心態與技術，絕對可以打出一片天。
過去在NBA現役時期，與俠客?歐尼爾（Shaquille ONeal） 在禁區的「歐姚對決」至今仍令球壽豐創業貸款迷印象深刻，兩人後來也結為好友，今年更一起入選籃球名人堂。提及對歐尼爾的印象？姚明表示，歐尼爾是個非常有意思的人，大家都過度關注他的體型、力量與球場上的掌控力，但忽略他其實非常聰明。
姚明說，以他們當初剛交手為例，歐尼爾可能第一次碰到像他這樣身高的人，頭幾次確實造成了些阻礙，但3、4回合之後，歐尼爾就會馬上改變策略，智商、情商都很高。
